Since the emergence of the high speed infrastructure connection between Vienna and Wiener Neustadt, small towns and villages along this connection got their population and development drained out because of rapid urbanization process. In order to preserve the identity of this area, this project suggest survival strategies for small cities to team up to form a group.
To bring new character to the given site, the investigation started from acknowledging the contrast between urban development statuses inside of this group. And to establish fair urban conditions throughout the city, the intervention of this project propose to redistribute urban density.
A. Subtraction
To provide public and communal spaces on the urbanized area, a selected area was intervened by removing existing built structure and change selected private properties to public usage to create larger urban plaza.
B. Re-organization
Areas with middle ranged density were treated with simple reallocation of existing buildings and re-programming the usage between private and public to create open communal.
C. Insertion
Around the ring, most of the areas are still remain in rural condition. To make those areas denser, public & communal programs are inserted in between private housings. So for this, property lines between public and private were negotiated.
